On one of my walks recently I was enchanted by some Alder trees, growing in boggy, wet conditions and just beginning to have their Springtime catkins showing through. I channelled this empowerment after my time spent around these trees, their energies revitalising me and bring hope, endurance and balance.
The Celtic Alder teaches us to be strong, to defend and protect that which we hold dear. It teaches us to support and nurture our environment, to take only what we need and to give back all that we can.
The Celtic Alder reminds us that balance is essential in our lives, we need to recognise when it is time to act and when it is time to rest, when it is time to flourish and when it is time to be still. The Alder springs to life in the Spring, at the equinox, a time when light and dark are perfectly balanced.
The Alder reminds us of the constant renewal of life, the seasons, and the need to go with the natural flow of life, to allow ourselves to be reborn and renewed. To embrace each new Spring, to celebrate and welcome in the light.
