The Scarab is a symbol of the sun and an emblem of Egyptian god Khepera, the god of the Sun and immortality. Their image was placed with the mummified remains of the dead as a source of new life in the next world.
In the Middle Ages, alchemists drew the scarab in diagrams of the double spiral, which leads to the center of the universe.
The Scarab brings new life and vitality. It can teach you how to pace yourself through the seasonal changes of the year. Also, gives insight into past lives and spiritual enlightenment.
In ancient Egypt, they worshipped this scarab as divinely sacred. They saw the actions of the scarab as parallel to their sun god. They saw the beetle emerging from the ground in the morning, rolling a ball all day long in toil, and burying it at night. This, to the Egyptians, was similar to the sun coming up in the morning, the sun god rolling it across the sky all day, and burying the sun at night.
They saw the whole cycle of the scarab as one of resurrection, renewal, and regeneration.
A scarab totem will be a bit of a pack rat, storing away all sorts of things, not wanting to throw anything out in case it will have a use later on. As anti societal as they are, they will be lively and interesting to talk with. They will be committed partners romantically and will be quite willing to share some tasks in a relationship, where other tasks they will split up between partners.
