Being grateful, feeling gratitude, raises your vibration and so whenever you feel grateful for something you also feel happier and more joyful. This can be for anything in your life, no matter how small it may seem. When we are grateful we stop taking things for granted and we come to fully appreciate all that we have and how amazing life is.
Just stop for a moment and as quickly as you can think of twenty things you are grateful for in this moment. It’s easy when you start, you are grateful that you can see, that you can read, that you have a computer, internet, that you can use your hands, that you can understand ideas, that you can sit, stand, etc. Try to do this several times through the day and you will begin to realise how much you have to be grateful for. You will also become aware of how many things we take for granted.
Whenever you feel gratitude and say thank you and truly mean it a beautiful wave of calm flows through you but whenever we feel anger or frustrated that things aren’t exactly how we would like them to be a negative unsatisfied emotion flows through us and our vibration is lowered.
When you catch yourself feeling negatively see if you can turn it around, for example, if you are fed up of having to do the shopping, think to yourself “but I am so grateful that I can do this activity, that I can walk, that I have a car or a way of getting to the shop, that there are shops and people who work there to provide all the produce,” etc.
When you counter balance a negative thought with gratitude it stops the negative thought in its tracks and it looses its power. The more you do this the easier it is to feel grateful for everything you have and be aware of what you have. You will also have less and less negative thoughts since you are not enabling the negative thoughts to gain power and multiply.
Before you go to sleep at night try and think of as many things as possible that you are grateful for from the day. It’s quite amazing how many things you think of. You’ll also sleep much better because your last thoughts were positive and your mind will be calm.
