So, before we start, just a quick recap….the 7 main Chakras are energy centres that run from the base of your spine up, along the spine, to the top of your head. These energy centres can sometimes get out of alignment and cause you to feel out of sorts. Balancing them using meditation and breathing will help bring them back into alignment and restore well-being.
This meditation uses breathing and visualization to help align the Chakras, focus on each Chakra for a few breaths, or as long as you feel comfortable.
-First, prepare your space. You can light candles, burn incense, play music, anything that you find helps you. Make sure you won’t be disturbed.
-Find a comfortable sitting position with your back and spine straight.
-When you are ready focus on your breathing and begin to breathe slowly and easily, feeling any cares or worries draining away with each outward breath.
-Allow yourself to be in this pleasant state for a little while, just relaxing and letting go.
-Then starting at the Root Chakra, at the base of the spine, bring your awareness here and visualise the colour red. Imagine with each breath that you are drawing in energy from Mother Earth and bringing it to your Root Chakra.
-Do this for a few breathes, feeling the energy growing in the Root Chakra.
-Next move on to the Sacral Chakra, just below the navel.
-Bring you awareness to the Sacral Chakra and visualise the colour orange. Breathe into this Chakra feeling the energy growing with each breath, expanding your creativity, balancing your emotions.
-Now move onto the Solar Plexus Chakra, just above the navel.
-Bring you awareness to the Solar Plexus Chakra and visualise the colour yellow. Breathe into this Chakra, imagining you are drawing in the energy of the Sun.
-Next move up to the Heart Chakra, situated in the middle of your chest.
-Bring your awareness to your Heart Chakra and visualise the colour green. Breathe into this Chakra, imagining it filling up with unconditional love and peace.
-Then move up to the Throat Chakra, situated at your throat.
-Bring your awareness to the Throat Chakra and visualise the colour blue. With each breath imagine your voice getting stronger, speaking your truth with confidence and clarity.
-Now bring your attention to your Third Eye Chakra, situated in the centre of your forehead.
-At your Third Eye Chakra visualise the colour indigo. With each breath feel this area being strengthened, your inner voice, your intuition being awakened.
-Finally bring your awareness to your Crown Chakra, at the top of your head.
-Visualise a beautiful deep violet colour that changes into a brilliant white. With each breath draw down energy from Source and feel your Crown Chakra expand and your connection to all that is.
-When you feel ready, gently begin drawing the breath down through the Crown Chakra on the in breath and as you breathe out feel it move down through all the chakras and out through the Root Chakra.
-Do this a few times, feeling all the Chakras becoming energized and recharged, balanced and aligned.
-When you feel ready allow your breathing to return to normal, bring your awareness back to the room, stretch out your arms and legs and gently awaken yourself.
-Have a glass of water and allow yourself time to get back to your day.
